My name is Gunjan Shrivastava, a dedicated and passionate musician with over 20 years of experience in Hindustani classical music. I have performed live on numerous occasions, sharing the magic of classical music with audiences. I hold a Master’s degree in Music from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh, India.
At Sur Sadhana, I offer engaging vocal and harmonium lessons for children aged 5 and above. One of the highlights of my career was performing on Vividh Bharati Radio Station in Gwalior, where I showcased my talents on a wider platform.

1. Alankars | Introduction to the seven notes (Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni), their significance in Hindustani music, and how to sing them with correct pitch and rhythm. This module delves into how the Sapt Chakras are associated with the Saat Sur (seven notes). Students will learn the significance of proper sitting posture and breathing techniques. |
2. Basic Taal | Students will learn the fundamentals of rhythm in Hindustani music through various basic Taals, including Keharwa, Dadra, Jhaptaal, Teen Taal, Ek Taal, and many more. This will develop a strong sense of rhythm and timing, essential for their musical journey. |
3. Introduction to Raags | Understanding the structure of basic Hindustani Raags like Yaman, Bhupali, Bhairav, and Bilawal. Students will practice singing Arohan and Avarohan (ascending and descending notes) and learn how to perform simple bandish (compositions). |
4. Learn Bhajan for Performances | Students will learn popular devotional songs, enhancing their vocal skills and understanding the emotional expression in music. They will prepare for performances at various events, showcasing their talent and connecting with the community. |
